Our Library
The Library Team is excited to share with you how the students spent their time in the library this year. As Sabis® and Student Life Organization (SLO), we got the Library prefects involved in the working day of the library. Each week, we had a new list of library prefects, some of whom became honorary library best prefects.
The experience of helping in the library hopefully gave these students organizational skills and made them more caring of our little book world.
This year in the library, we also started to conduct a new program called Accelerated Reader. This reading progress monitoring software was there to help the students acquire reading habits, as well as to become aware of their reading levels. For every goal achieved, the students got AR certificates, as motivation for continuing the best kind of fun – fun with books.
The library opened its door for classes from Grade 3 to Grade 10 for reading, borrowing books and taking Accelerated Reader quizzes. Grades 2 had a unique opportunity to have a storytelling session with volunteer students from Grades 8 and 10. The library activities also included:
- Super Reader – racing to read 5 books in one month, for Grades 3-4
- National Library Week – when the students got to write their own stories and revise their readings for Grades 3-10
The Library Team would like to welcome all our students to help us enjoy even more activities next year.
