SABIS STARS 2016

The highly anticipated global SABIS^® Stars event was recently hosted at the International School of Choueifat in Dubai campus, U.A.E. on April 22^nd and 23rd, 2016. The event welcomed students from 28 SABIS^® Network schools in Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kurdistan, K.S.A., Lebanon, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar and the U.A.E, for a two-day event that showcased their knowledge, talent, and critical thinking skills.

SABIS^® STARS is a biennial, regional educational contest in which students from SABIS^® Network schools meet and compete in events that are designed to challenge students to move beyond the purely academic; to ignite a desire to investigate that about which they are passionate; and to showcase their talents and creativity. This year, over 600 students competed in 12 different categories including debate, photography, live art performances, public speaking, essay writing, science projects, world issues, and advertising.

The event was a huge success with students from SABIS^® Network schools treating the audience to a spectacular showcase of skill, talent, creativity, and wit. The competition was fierce and the judges, prominent individuals from the local communities, were impressed by the participants’ work, camaraderie, and the gamesmanship they witnessed at the event.

In his closing ceremony speech, Mr. Victor Saad, SABIS Vice-President stated, “SABIS^® STARS provides opportunities for students to explore ideas, develop confidence and articulate opinions.”, adding  that Dubai is renowned for being at the very forefront of innovation and that, as stressed by H.H Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid, “Innovation holds the key to our progress!”.  At SABIS^®, we embrace this philosophy. This is reflected through all aspects of school life and through our unique methodology. Nowhere is this more evident than through SABIS^® STARS.”

All participating SABIS^® Network schools had their share of victory with ISC-Sharjah, ISC Choueifat and ISC Lahore coming out at the top of the league.

Students returned home with many great memories and are already looking forward to the next SABIS^® STARS event, set to take place in the spring of 2018.  This has been another success for the SABIS^® Network and a great organizing effort by the Regional Organizing Committee and the International School of Choueifat – Dubai.
